Positive results

The latest data of the General Department of Customs, the positive results of textile and garment exports in the first 5 months of 2022 are identified on several key points. First of all, the scale of textile and garment export turnover reached 15 billion USD - the highest compared to the same period so far, ranking fourth in export items of the country (after phones and components, computers, electronic products and components, machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts).

Compared to the same period last year, the first 5 months of this year increased by 22.2% - much higher than the growth rate of the country's total export turnover (16.7%) and many other export items. The absolute increase was quite large (US$2,725 million) - the second highest among 5 items with an increase of over US$ 1 billion (only after phones and components increased by US$ 3,024 million).

The scale and growth rate of textile and garment export turnover in 5 months have contributed to making the scale of the country's total export turnover of goods reach the largest ever and the growth rate is quite high (16.7 %).

 

Positive results in the first 5 months of the year due to many factors. Regarding production, there are currently about 14,000 enterprises with nearly 200,000 employees, with over 1.1 million billion dong of capital, over 400 trillion dong of fixed assets and long-term financial investment, nearly 1 million billion dong. net sales of production and business... In the first 5 months of the year, textile production index increased by 4.7%, garment increased by 22%, fabric output increased by 14.5%, clothing increased by 9.4%, number of employees textile up 0.6%, garment up 1.3%…

Imports of textile and garment materials increased significantly over the same period last year, such as cotton up 19.9%, textile fibers up 5.7%, fabrics of all kinds up 12.6%, textile materials and accessories, garment, leather, shoes increased by 6.8%.

 

The export market of textiles and garments is large. In the first 5 months of this year, textiles and garments are present in 61 countries and territories mainly - the most compared to other commodities.

Of these 61 markets, there are 39 markets with over 10 million USD, 15 markets with over 100 million USD, the largest are the US (7,580 million USD), Japan (1,346 million USD), South Korea (1,163 million USD). ), Canada ($514 million), China ($441 million), Germany ($409 million), Cambodia ($395 million), the Netherlands ($376 million), UK (296 million), France (240 million USD). USD), Belgium (197 million USD), Indonesia ($168 million), Spain ($134 million).

Most of the markets increased compared to the same period last year, there are some markets with good growth (such as the US, Korea, Netherlands, UK, Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, France, Spain) ,…), in which most markets have signed Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Vietnam.
